Spring in the Algarve

Spring starts early in the south of Portugal. From February our whole world is transformed by an abundance of wild flowers. This to the delight of hikers, wildlife photographers and ornithologists. The colour of our meadow changes with the coming and going of blooming flowers. The orchids also flower one after another other. First we have the Ophrys sp. followed in April by the Anacamptis pyramidalis, which grows in great numbers on our farm. If you are lucky, you will stumble upon the Orchis italica.
